Hello There... So good of you to drop by.
In case you've stumbled here by accident, this is the little piece of the blogosphere occupied by Shake It!, which is a Friday Night Artpop Party, held on the second Friday of every month at Manchester's best alternative venue, the very swanky Star & Garter.
We originally started the night as we were tired of the city's abundance of swaggering lad-rock clubs, and uninspiring cut-and-paste indie-electro nights. We wanted to play the music that gets us excited, and bring Manchester's discerning club-goers an ever-changing playlist of edgy, noisy, intelligent and - most importantly - danceable alternative music.
Picking out the best of the fresh crop and some recent alternative gems, along with a handful of forgotten cult classics, we're always excited to put together a playlist that is creative and lots of fun to dance to - from artrock to new wave, mathpop to indie and all sorts inbetween, depending on how the mood takes us!
Having launched in late 2008, the press we've received has already noted how Shake It! has "quickly established itself as an alternative alternative...keeping an indie aesthetic without succumbing to too much trash or electro pop" (Manchester Evening News).
It would be ace if you could join us!
Second Friday of every month 9 'til 2.30

And because it’s the Star & Garter, there’s cheap doubles all night!
